This past week, and upcoming week, are absolutely monumental for the Hummingbiird Team. After being able to share the Hummingbiird story last week with the FSU IFC students, we were selected to speak at The TCC SPARK! Entrepreneur’s Forum this Tuesday September 18th. But that was only part of the excitement we were able to share last week. After releasing the latest update in the App Store, we have found it fitting to officially host our Launch Party this Wednesday September 19th at The Edison from 6pm-8pm. Instead of throwing an event where we sit there and tell you everything you could possibly want to know about Hummingbiird, we’ve decided to make the event an Entrepreneur Meet Up. On Wednesday, we encourage all the Tallahassee entrepreneurial community to come out and network with like minded individuals, pitch your ideas to other successful entrepreneurs, and enjoy some free food and beverages. There will be a live band, cash bar, giveaways, and much more! Hosting this event is something we’ve been working very hard on in order to give students a break from the suit and tie job fairs and give them a more casual event for them to explore the local entrepreneurial community.

Keeping Your Nest Fresh
Ideas and tips to help you keep your dorm clean.
1. Messy Dorm Floor?”
For clothes, keep a spare bin to throw clothes into that aren’t ready to be washed yet. This could be shirts you were trying on or dress pants you wore for an hour for an interview. This way you won’t have clothes all over your floor.
2. If Only You Got College Credit for Washing Dishes; Just Clean It ASAP”
Wash a dish right after you use it. Don’t let it sit in the sink for a month for a smell to ferment in your dorm.
3. Cleaning Schedules for You and Your Roommates”
For communal spaces in your dorm, set a rotating schedule for when it needs to get clean, and who’s turn it is to clean it.
*Your turn to clean the bathroom and you really can’t bring yourself to do it? We have peeps that will on Hummingbiird.
4. Leave Your Garbage at The Door
When the trash is full, remove the garbage bag from the bin and leave right outside your door. This way you won’t forget to toss it.
5. Get Your Dorm or Apartment to Smell Clean
Use plugin scented oil warmers to get rid of any lingering smells. Here is one you can get off of Amazon, otherwise an oil diffuser works well too. Best of all, it’s not a candle or incense so you won’t get in any sort of RA trouble for using it.
6. Cover Up Stains, or Prevent them With a Rug
Get a rug for your space. It may not be the magic carpet from Aladdin, but you won’t risk staining the actual floors when you spill a drink. Plus it’s easier clean up by just shaking it outside or vacuuming it. Or if you do leave a spot on the floor, you can at least cover it up. Take a look at some of the ones Target has that would look great in any college dorm!
7. Have Someone Else Do Your Laundry; It’s College
Have your laundry done by someone from Hummingbiird .
8. Organize Your College Life with IKEA
Take a trip to IKEA and buy a cube organizer to help keep your things, and your life, organized. One of our Hummingbiird professionals can also help you assemble it as well to keep your dorm looking composed!
9. Free Up Some Space by Donating Your Clothes
Purge your closet and donate your clothes! Do this every three months and it’ll help you conserve space in your dorm.
10. Don’t Use Tacks to Hang Your Posters
Put posters up with wall mounting putty—it’s easier than tacks and nails and won’t leave a hole in the wall. The more you personalize your space in your dorm, the more you care about it and will want to keep it from getting cluttered.
